Abstract
One should assess the contemporary relevance of ancient wisdom for ourselves, our organisations and those for whom we are responsible. Greater diversity in ways of thinking may be required to confront challenges and generate novel solutions to certain problems. Innovation is required to address certain challenges. Leaders may need to encourage people to open-up, explore and question. Commitment and determination can be especially important for innovators. Might faith, over confidence and strong belief lead to inflexibility and the ignoring of warning signs and counter opinions. Ethical and balanced decision making can establish confidence and build reputation. Honesty and a willingness to probe, question and reflect are particularly important. Certain values such as integrity, honesty and humility are associated with spiritualism. If one does not expect too much from a certain source, one is more likely to be pleasantly surprised by the insights one gains. Great responsibility lies with those who interpret ancient wisdom, to ensure it is done responsibly and without distortion. Direction and being an effective director is about making things happen. This requires both thinking and doing.
