Abstract

This chapter will discuss the addition reactions of the hydrides of the Group IV elements to carbon–carbon double and triple bonds, namely hydrosilylation, hydrostannylation, hydrogermylation, and hydroplumbylation reactions of alkynes and alkenes.
Although there is no corresponding chapter in the first edition of Comprehensive Organic Synthesis, the material presented here will follow on from Chapters 3.9 and 3.12 and the reader is referred back to these.
