Advances in superconducting magnet technology have provided the opportunity for the use of high DC magnetic fields to investigate materials in a noncontact environment. The advantage of a high DC field is that they can be used to investigate materials in terrestrial gravity without the dominant convective flow that is induced by AC magnetic fields. This paper presents the results of a recently developed 3D numerical model that is used to investigate the dynamics of diamagnetic liquid droplets in a high DC magnetic field and discusses the relevance to material property measurement processes.
