Abstract

Many directors are inadequately prepared for directorial duties and responsibilities, and once appointed, not all directors continue with leadership development activities. Drawing upon research undertaken for his book Developing Directors, Colin Coulson-Thomas looks at how directors have been prepared for the boardroom, and assesses the learning and development options available to those already holding board appointments who wish to remain current - and open to those considering boardroom roles - providing practical advice aimed at the continual honing of skills for leaders at the highest level of the organisation.
