Abstract
This note evaluates the new whistleblowing scheme for public officials, introduced in January 2010 in the Netherlands. The note discusses the historical track record of whistleblowing policy in the Netherlands, and comments on both the promising aspects of the announced policy, as well as its pitfalls.
The note also compares the new policy with the approach taken through the UK Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998.
