Abstract

There has long been an association between altered states of consciousness and reports of anomalous phenomena, although experimental research is required to establish the true nature of these claims. Within parapsychology there has been a wealth of research incorporating a variety of induction procedures in the experimental investigation of telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition and psychokinesis. The relationship between spontaneous cases and the experimental production of certain phenomena following induction with drugs, sleep, hypnosis, meditation or ganzfeld are explored.
