Abstract

This dataset contains information on the targeted and untargeted determination of phenolic compounds present in five underutilised fruit matrices in South Africa. The underutilised fruit including Kei apple (Dovyalis caffra), Simple-spined num-num (Carissa edulis), Natal apricot (Dovyalis longispina), Wild medlar (Vangueria infausta) and Marula (Sclerocarya birrea) were obtained from the Agricultural Research Council-Tropical and Subtropical Crops gene bank, South Africa, and characterised for their phytochemical content using an ultra-performance liquid chromatography linked to a high-resolution quadrupole time-of-flight (UPLC-QToF) mass spectrometry targeted and untargeted approach.
