Abstract
The Story of Work is a serial history of the concept of work from the ancient Greeks to the late nineteenth century with some concluding remarks on the concept of work today. It appears in weekly episodes, mirroring nineteenth-century practice, and is designed to form the basis of a full-length monograph (to be submitted 2024, after the next monograph) that benefits from readers' feedback.
The serial began 8 April and the link here is only to the Introduction which was released on that date along with the 1st episode. Links to all episodes published subsequently can be found by scrolling down the page.
