Abstract

This article examines the performance of mutual funds in western countries and explores the rationales behind the over and under performing funds based on the Efficient-Market-Hypothesis and the types of mutual funds. In addition, it explains the fee structure of different funds. This article provides an insight and early guideline for Chinese fund management industry which had just emerged in China.
