Abstract

A reflection on Christian Hidaka's landscape painting, concentrating on the representation of fissure, placing it in historical context with similar concerns in landscape design, landscape art and represenations of landscape in literature. The essay is published in combination with essays by Yves Brochard (University of Lille)and Roger McDonald (Arts Initiative, Tokyo)
