Abstract

An original large-scale outdoor performance piece created with a group of teenagers at Welling Comprehensive School, Kent, around the themes of nature, environmental disaster and growth. Performed as part of a grand finale with Emergency Exit Arts at Danson Park Festival, Bexley, Kent. Over a series of 10 Workshops and rehearsals, Jillian Wallis led group through a devising process beginning with their response to the initial theme that had been set by the host Company - which had simply been "Earth". Given the outdoor spectacle performance genre that was required, focus was on movement and gestural work devoid of speech but incorporating music and a specially recorded soundtrack that included the teenagers' voices to emphasise their narrative ideas.

Item Type: Play, Short Story or Poetry
