Abstract

As part of Falafel Road Residency (LADA/INIVA, February 2010) interdisciplinary artists Oreet Ashery and Larissa Sansour, hosted presentations and discussions on the many different ways in which artists consider food in a political context. Contributing artists included Bobby Baker, Blanch and Shock, Richard DeDomenici, DoEAT, Antonia Grant, Mad for Real, Scottee, Shabnam Shabazi, Caroline Smith, Superflex and Ali Zaidi. Residency culminated in an event titled ‘Food, Glorious Food’ with presentations from invited artists where members of an audience were encouraged to bring along a memory or an observation of how food has a political and/or cultural resonance for them.
