Abstract

1 hour Conference Paper/Lecture, followed by 1 hour Round-Table seminar by Mark Garcia at the Architectural Association on the 31st October 2018.

This 90 minute lecture was both a dissemination and review of my previous, active and forthcoming research into, using and for, the Diagram in spatial design research. Reflecting on my research from 2014 to the present and into the future, the lecture focussed on the histories, theories and speculative futures of the diagram in my own previous research, other new case study projects and how these are and will be further synthesised in my forthcoming books '21st Century Histories, Theories and Futures of Architecture: The RIBA Dissertations' (published by RIBA Publications), 'Spaceships And Astroarchitectures' (Thames & Hudson) - related to my PhD, Digital & Posthuman Spaces AD (Wiley), 'Diagrams of Architecture Volume II: Diagrams of Space/Spaces of Diagrams' (Wiley) and 'OMA/AMO Diagrams' (publisher TBC). It included a review of global diagram art and design research as both artefacts and literatures and the changing nature of the diagram as research method. It focussed on the finding/discoveries around emerging Posthuman Diagrams in art and design research and in the international space design field and related industries and arts. It speculated originally and significantly on the futures of posthuman diagrams in art and design research and in relation to new Posthuman technologies and the typology of the Spaceship and Astroarchitectures specifically.
