Abstract

Historically, the first electrical vehicles were produced at about the same point in time as their fossil fuel counterparts. It is only due to the cheap provision of fuel that the fossil fuel solution gained market more quickly than their electrical counterparts. Over time there were various electrical vehicle “re-introduction” attempts, but only the move to a need for low carbon solutions made them become more popular again. However, are they as carbon neutral as marketing lets us believe, and if not, then how can be achieve carbon neutral transportation. With current electricity production being quite centralised, the current fossil fuel based solution allows us to e.g. install carbon capture technologies, but are these not a small bandage on heavily bleeding wound, and should we not go back to the drawing board to look at better solutions. And if so, how do we get them to take the market by storm ?
