Abstract

This paper identifies the factors involved in successful development and deployment of business-to-business (B2B) virtual communities (VCs). The results of a cross case analysis involving four case studies are shown, whereby 59 factors that affect the development and deployment processes are identified and split into four key dimensions. As well as identifying the 59 factors, this paper also isolates the factors crucial to the development and deployment processes. The study’s findings indicate that cultural aspects associated with these processes have more impact than the resources available to the project, the technology selected or the functionality offered by the VC.
